I have an idj2 …. I bought it last year an have mastered it… Yes it freezes and stuffers slightly. After long hard use but I have never had it shut down on me. The more dj knowledge I have acquired I am realizing how amazon this machine is. Now that I have it mastered there are a few things I wish were better. More effects CDj’s incorporated and slightly more professional , more like a mix deck. But every time a new idj comes out I am disappointed Idj3 was crap. Because u couldn’t load tracks off iPod anymore and needed a computer which was the exact reason i wanted an idj. Mix deck can play iPod but it might as well just be 20 dollar iPod dock I want a fully independent idj That can jam ass like any other professional dj setup. In hindsight. The idj2 is the closest they ever came And for what it is. I love it and if it broke I would buy another one in a hearbeat

For solving firmware update issue

1) Make sure you're using a PC, not a mac.

2) Try reformatting the USB key. Make sure you format it FAT32

3) Make sure the .upg file is the only file on the key (but it sounds like you've already done that.)

4) Double-check the actual size of the .upg file on the key against the size on your HDD. (Or do an MD5 sum if you're hardcore.)

5) Try using a different USB port to do the upgrade. This shouldn't make any difference, but it's worth a shot.

If all that doesn't work, try using another USB key.

The symptom of it sitting on "Looking for firmware" indefinitely is either due to it being unable to mount the USB key, or not being able to find the file.

controls. Once you are done with Demo Mode, we recommend that you deactivate it to avoid unintentionally activating it during a gig.

To deactivate Demo Mode, follow these steps:

1. Press UTILITY
2. Press > at the bottom-right corner of the screen
3. Press Demo under the screen
4. Rotate the Push Select knob counter clockwise to change the setting for Start Demonstration to Never

To return to Demo Mode later, you can follow these same steps, selecting an option other than Never for the Start Demonstration setting.

I am having trouble getting the IPod DJ2 to read everything on the Ipod. It only reads and stores some of the songs so i have big gaps in my playlists. Also when i update an ipod it leaves old songs on the system and won't update to match the ipod. Can you help me with clearing the memory and starting again so that i don't get these old songs come up. Thank you Karen

i think that the idj2 is a step in a new direction, it's a great piece of equipment, just a few hiccups to be sorted out……….e.g. static-which i think is caused by the power supply, slow loading, sometimes my external hard drive just disconnects and last but not least…….one should be able too connect a laptop to their mixer.

My friend :

You only have to delete de librarÃan file from your ipod, from your pc.

Then, next time the idj2 makes a new "Upload " it will create a new librarian file with the new information.

I am having this problem as well. Have you worked it out as yet. I want to be able to wipe the libraries and start again. My IDJ2 is not installing everything on my IPOD. I have checked my ipod and everything is on there however the IDJ2 is not showing up all my songs. Every playlist is missing songs and they are not showing up at all under any other search. It is like it has just not synced properly with my ipod. Please help
