I too have the IDJ2. I have had it now for almost a year. I recently have been having issues with it shutting off during gigs! And you all know how embarrassing this can be. Has anybody else had this issue? Can someone suggest anything to fix it....

hi,

found this topic very interesting. here's what i can share about it:
http://probing.wikidot.com/piezo-analysis-oscilloscope

also it really depends on the impact (surface, where on the piezo / pad).

i am not sure how to implent it (pseudo-code) for an atmega. my goal is your goal: no lag with good velocity response. should i consider using a PIC18F and interrupts?

As a followup to my previous post, I have made a great deal of headway on this project, and currently have a working prototype, with PCBs on order. 8-) If anyone is interested in my approach, take a look at my web page http://drummaster.thecave.homeunix.org. My final solution the filtering problem above was to use a diode, a capacitor, a couple of resistors, and an op amp (for impedance matching) to filter out the ripples, and ensure a quick voltage dropoff after the hit. On the site are schematics as well as some graphs showing the effectiveness of the filter circuits.

Cheers

Numark iDJ2 Mobile DJ Workstation with Universal Dock for iPod review by www.musicthingz.co.nz :

If you are looking for a product to get into DJing and Mixing this product is perfect. I have had the iDj2 since it came out in early september and i have been very impressed. I am an intermediate level DJ and I do a lot of parties and weddings and the iDJ2 is perfect. This product is perfect for mixing and bumpin the tunes. The External input on the back allows me to hook up my turntable to one side and my CDJ to the other. The mixer on the IDJ2 is very well built and the product is very solid. The jog wheels work perfectly whether you are searching for a part in the song, using the scratch function, or fine tuning pitch. This is the best way to get two decks and mixer all in one, while allowing yourself to be free from hauling cds, computers, and records. All you need is an ipod or a harddrive. I'd say that this is the best product in its class on the market. If you have any questions let me know.
