DIY visuals controlled by DIY music tools
Most music visuals:
- are fairly inefficient at reacting to music
- can be sloppy in their reaction times and granularity of reaction
- usually react to an analysis of the audio spectrum
- however, can work with any piece of music or sound
Short Term Goals
- create a system that creates music based on open source tools (pure data)
- music system sends platform agnostic network messages to another machine (OSC, wireless networking when possible)
- the other machine creates visual imagery based on logic designed to react with precision to network messages with open source programmatic graphics generator (Processing)
Longer Term Goals
- Create a patch for Quartz Composer to accept OSC messages? That would be pretty bad ass.
- Have one music source act as a ringmaster and control several graphics generators at once
-Derek Scott and Steve Cooley
